Hand of Anubis Demo: A Quirky Twist on the Ancient Egypt Slot Genre

The Hand of Anubis game is an April 2022 release from Hacksaw Gaming. The provider has always been a big player in the industry, releasing memorable and unique slot games on a regular basis. However, if you play the Hand of Anubis demo, you will get a much different feel than any game previously released by Hacksaw Gaming. They certainly stepped their game up for this release, and it shows for an overall solid play experience.

For one, you have a great betting range you can work with in Hand of Anubis. The max. bet you can make is $100 per spin, and the max. win you can get on this game is 10,000x your wager. The bonus game – a free spins mode – is a lot of fun, and you can really rack up the wins the more you play this. But the features are where this game shines, particularly in the Hand of Anubis demo.

Hand of Anubis Features

Let’s get into some of the great bonus features you can expect from this game.

Cluster Betways

The big selling point of Hand of Anubis is that they offer a cluster betways feature. Clusters will multiply your wins, and allow for wins if similar symbols are in proximity of each other. Essentially, you don’t need to directly match your symbols horizontally, vertically or diagonally to win with cluster betways. As long as they are adjacently connected, then you win.

Hand of Anubis allows for clusters from 5 to 11 matching symbols, and if you get a cluster win with any of the premium symbols, you can get a 20x to 60x win on your high matching clusters. It’s the main reason many play this game, so try out the Hand of Anubis demo, and you will experience how valuable these cluster wins can get.

Soul Orb Wilds

The wild symbols in this game are represented by both red and blue Orbs when you play Hand of Anubis. Either of these coloured orbs will act as classic Wilds, substitution for other symbols to ensure you have a win. But, they also have another feature attached: the Red Orb increases the value by +1 for every winning reel they are a part of, and the Blue Orb does the same for any winning cluster. So, for example, let’s say you got a win that was worth 3x your wager, a Red Orb would multiply that into a 4x winner. It is definitely one of the strongest Hand of Anubis bonus features.

Bonus Bet Buy

Hand of Anubis also features a bonus buy feature, that is available everywhere except for the UK. The bonus buy feature allows you to purchase the Underworld Bonus Round, for 129x your stake, and the Judgment feature costs 200x your stake. It is quite expensive for a bonus buy feature, but these bonus options can offer some big wins. Just ensure that you are gambling responsibly and sticking to a strict budget.

Hand of Anubis Free Spins and Bonuses

The Hand of Anubis free spins offer is activated by lining up 3 scatters exactly. This will activate the Underworld Bonus Round, which is your normal free spins round, which will reward you with 10 free spins.

The name of the game for this free spins offer is to up your multiplier. When you start your free spins round, you will see a base multiplier of 0x. You need to hit the Anubis Skull symbols, which will up your multiplier +1 every time you hit it. You need a Green Orb to maintain the multiplier, and activate it for the next round. You get +3 free spins for every Anubis Skull you do hit.

There is another bonus game you hit, which is called the Judgment feature. You hit this by getting four bonus scatters, and this is essentially this games version of super free spins. You only start with 3 free spins here, but the goal is to hit the right symbols to up your free spins numbers, and get high multipliers. You aim to get multipliers, and the skull symbols will increase your multipliers the more you play. The Anubis Skull symbols in this feature will multiply by either 2x to 10x, and the Epic Anubis Skulls will multiply all previous multipliers by 2x to 10x.

It’s an in-depth, fun and engaging set of free spin games. We would recommend you try out the Hand of Anubis demo, and see how transformational this free spin function can be to your gameplay.

Hand of Anubis Theme and Symbols

Hand of Anubis paints a much darker and grittier version then your classic Ancient Egyptian themed online slot. The layout of the game is a dark background, what looks to be the all black inside of a pyramid, and two statues of Anubis standing either side of the board. The board is all made of stone, and really adds to the grimier aesthetic that Hacksaw Gaming aimed for with this game.

All the symbols are similar elements to what you would find in other Ancient Egypt themed games. You have the Anubis Skull, the highest scoring symbol, all the coloured Orbs acting as wilds, other golden jewels and a Horus symbol. You also have the classic card number and letters acting as your lower scoring symbol. The graphics are strong here, the animations are smooth and it’s admirable that Hacksaw Gaming went with something that was completely unique. It’s a real testament to the effort they put into the base game of the Hand of Anubis demo.

Hand of Anubis Volatility and RTP

This is where the player might run into some difficulty, if they plan to play this game with real money. With all the big wins, and the sheer amount of multipliers you can get in this game, there is no doubt that Hand of Anubis is a high volatility game.

This essentially means that you can land larger wins, but there may be long gaps and smaller wins will be less frequent.

The RTP, too, is one to watch out for. It’s currently variable, which means there are multiple different Return to Player values depending on what version of the game you are playing. The base game has a RTP of 94.32%, which is well below the industry standard of 96%.

However, the Underworld free spins mode has a 96.29% RTP, and the Judgment feature has 96.18% RTP. The base game is pretty weak when it comes to RTP to be blunt, which is why we recommend you play the Hand of Anubis demo before you do anything else.

How to Play Hand of Anubis

Hacksaw Gaming has really scaled back when it comes to putting too many technical buttons on the screen for Hand of Anubis. They have really focused on emphasizing the gameplay and the brilliant animations of this game.

We always recommend players try out the demo mode, and in this case, we absolutely recommend the Hand of Anubis demo free play. It will help you get a feel for how the game works, and help you master the controls, which are easy to pick up.

All the playable buttons are across the bottom of the grid. In the left bottom corner, you have the drop down menu, which features most of the technical controls. This includes the volume button, the settings, and the paylines. You can find the bonus buy option right beside this menu as well: it is the small blue button to the left of it.

Your balance will be indicated right beside the drop down menu, and your bet per spin will be shown in a counter in the bottom right of the screen. Beside the bet amount, you have the spin button, and two arrows that will adjust the amount you are paying per spin. You also have an auto play button beside the spin button. That is all the playable controls you need to know – it is all very logical.

Slotsia’s Review of Hand of Anubis

Hand of Anubis a near-perfect game that is only hampered by a couple of glaring blind spots. The amount of bonus features they have are staggering, and their free spins rounds are some of the best we have seen in the slot game world. The graphics themselves are also stunning, compared to many other Hacksaw Gaming selections.

However, the low RTP in the base game can be hard to ignore, and is a glaring battle to have if you are playing for real money. The bonus buy option is also a little expensive compared to similar games. All this leads to us suggesting that you play the Hand of Anubis demo to see if you like what is on offer – it is certainly a memorable slot experience.
