With deadmau5, Microgaming aims to translate the club atmosphere onto the reels. It tries to do this through a background that resembles the inside of a hazy club, complete with coloured neon lights and the protagonist’s silhouette looming to the left of the reels. Additionally, the symbols are made up of a few iterations of the iconic deadmu5 mask, neon card symbols and some party girl tiles frozen in various poses.
The presentation is lacking in overall quality, with the board looking quite dead and the symbols being incredibly cheesy and cliché. It feels like the inside of a generic, sleazy club that we’d rather not step into. The saving grace here is the music itself, with deadmau5 tracks bringing some original atmosphere into the mix.

The deadmau5 slot feels like a bit of a missed opportunity from Microgaming. With some great tracks and an iconic style, the theme here offered plenty of chances for great features and mechanics to meet stylish presentation.
Unfortunately, none of that came to be and instead we have been left with a generic video slot that implements a selection of recycled features in an uninspired design. The deadmau5 theme might draw in a few players out of curiosity, but there isn’t much here to keep them at the reels. At least the music is great!
