The Dog House
The Dog House is one of Pragmatic Play’s many 2019 releases. It seems to us that Pragmatic has some sort of a “slot per month” plan going on, but we don’t mind since the quality so far seems to be up there. The first time that you can play The Dog House is on the 9th of May. We at Slotsia will tell you all that you need to know about this new release as well as its amazing bonus features. First things first, though, here’s some info in the nutshell:
- Pay lines: 20
- RTP: 96.50 %
- Volatility: High
- Features: Multiplier Wilds, Free Spins
The Dog House Free Spins and Bonus
The Dog House, much like most Pragmatic Play creations, has quite a simple base game, which is enough to make the game rather approachable. Despite this simplicity, however, the company has been able to spice things up enough to still make the game both interesting and exciting.
As a slot player, you just have to love ’em wilds! The Dog House also has wilds in abundance, but they are not just your simple cookie-cutter type. Instead, each of the dog-house shaped wilds here gets a multiplier of 2x or 3x, thus making the wilds’ appearance all the more welcome from a winning standpoint. Wilds only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, but that certainly doesn’t prevent you from winning big.
In order to trigger The Dog House’s free spins mode, you need to land three bonus paws on your screen. The bonus paws appear on reels 1, 3 and 5, which means that you cannot get more than three per spin.
Landing three bonus paws will take you to a new screen where the game’s best symbol—the chubby and jovial Rottweiler—is sitting on a red pillow, waiting to pull an ACME-esque lever. Pulling this lever starts 9 bonus wheels, each of them giving you 1 to 3 free spins. The wheels are obviously weighed in order to make 1 more probable than 2 or 3, but you can still net yourself anywhere from 9 to 27 free spins. We ourselves usually scored 11 to 17 spins during our arduous testing process.
The free spins mode in The Dog House can be pretty crazy sometimes. The trick here is that during your free spins, wilds will always stick to your reels for the remainder of the spins. Score a few sticky wilds right at the start and you could be looking at some of the biggest wins that you will ever find—especially if you managed to get yourself plenty of spins as well. Triggering the mode might not always be easy, but the prizes definitely reflect this!
The Dog House Theme and Symbols
The theme in The Dog House is ridiculously funny. The reels are inside some sort of a garage, wood shed or dog house, and you can see a nice little street view in the background. The idea has seemingly been to create a feeling of a peaceful residential district with happy hounds enjoying life and wagging their tails. For the duration of the free spins, night falls and stars beautifully dot the sky.
The Dog House includes 13 different symbols. In addition to the colourful card symbols (10 to A), you can also find a bone, collar, and four different breeds of dog, ranging from Rottweiler to Bulldog, Pekingese and a dachshund. (We are not exactly experts on dogs, but we hope we got them at least somewhat right.) The remaining two symbols would be the bonus paw and the multiplier wild.
Music in The Dog House sounds rather humorous and fits the game perfectly. Songs change based on whether the reels are spinning or not, and the free spins mode also has its own tune. Do not just take our word for it, but the music here will really make you smile!
The Dog House and Volatility
Much like many of the best online slots, The Dog House hosts a competitive 96.5% RTP. The volatility here, however, is higher than in most Pragmatic’s slots—pretty close to 5 out of 5 on the company’s very own scale that is displayed when you start playing. As such, you might want to use a low bet to experiment with this slot before eventually raising the stakes.
The Dog House – How to Play
There is nothing too complex about The Dog House. What you see is what you get. Do note, however, that you can boost the speed of your auto spins to ‘quick’ and even ‘turbo’ levels. This is especially helpful when you are trying the game out for free and studying how everything works.
Bet Levels and Wins
Pragmatic Play slots never force you to choose a bet that you are not comfortable with. With The Dog House, there are dozens of bet levels to choose from, from 20p all the way to £100 per spin.
The most valuable symbol in The Dog House is the hilariously happy looking Rottweiler, but all other dogs also possess the potential for big wins. The highest possible potential can be found from the free spins mode once you start filling those three centre reels with multiplier wilds.
The Dog House – Slotsia Verdict
We at Slotsia have often compared Pragmatic Play slots to some of the more simple brick-and-mortar slots. While we have mostly made this comparison with good connotations in mind, we greatly appreciate how The Dog House seems more ambitious than your average Pragmatic game. There is a total of three different tunes and screens here, which is more than enough to elevate this slot to be one of the company’s finest.
The Dog House immediately made us fall in love with its playful atmosphere and candid canines. As we already said, this game will make you smile—and isn’t that what online casino slots are all about?
